David Ross went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer as the Cubs crushed the Pirates 9-4 at Wrigley Field. Addison Russell and Kris Bryant also went deep for Chicago, which was coming off its first two-game losing streak of the season. Jason Hammel pitched six-and-two-thirds innings, giving up two runs on eight hits while striking out eight to improve to 5-and-0. Francisco Liriano was knocked around for eight runs in four-and-two-thirds frames to fall to 3-and-2.
Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer in the ninth for the Bucs, who fell to 0-and-4 against the Cubs this season.
