Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was the unanimous pick as NL Rookie
of the Year, while Astros shortstop Carlos Correa won the honor in
the AL. Bryant hit .275 and led all rookies with 26 homers, 31
doubles and 99 RBIs in helping the Cubs return to the playoffs for
the first time since 2008.
Correa, who was the surprise top pick in
the 2012 amateur draft, hit .279 with 22 homers, 68 RBIs and 14
steals for an Astros team that made its first postseason appearance
in a decade.
