Freddy Galvis padded the lead in the eighth inning with a two-run double. Ryan Howard had a home run and totaled three RBI and Cameron Rupp plated a run for the Phils, who have won back-to-back games since losing eight of nine. Dalier Hinojosa earned the win in relief and Ken Giles notched his 13th save. Chris Coghlan went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and Kris Bryant had an RBI single in defeat. Clayton Richard took the loss for Chicago.

The Twins scored four runs in the first inning and cruised to a 7-0 victory over the White Sox in the rubber match of their three-game set at U.S. Cellular Field. Torii Hunter had a three-run home run and totaled four RBI, while Miguel Sano and Eddie Rosario each added an RBI single. Kyle Gibson fanned seven in just under eight innings to improve to 10-and-10 for Minnesota, which has won three of four. Chris Sale got rocked for six runs on nine hits in three frames to slip to 12-and-9. Chicago has lost four of its last six.
