Bears sign veteran wide receiver

The Chicago Bears are bringing in former Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes. The 30-year-old has agreed to terms on a contract with the Bears. He made 23 catches for 456 yards and a touchdown in 11 games last year with New York while playing in just four games in the 2012 season before suffering a Lisfranc injury. Holmes was drafted in 2006 by the Pittsburgh Steelers and was named MVP of Super Bowl 43 after catching the game-winning touchdown.

The Bears will be without tight end Zach Miller this season.  He suffered a season-ending foot injury on Thursday against the Jaguars and was placed on injured reserve on Friday.  The team filled the roster spot vacated by Miller by signing receiver Kofi Hughes.

The Bears will play their 3rd preseason game on Friday at Seattle.
