On October 5th, 1973, WRHL-FM went on the air. So today, October 5th, 2013, we celebrate 40 years of WRHL-FM. When the station signed on in 1973, it played country music and was simulcast with WRHL-AM 1060. The two stations remained the same until 1994. At that time, WRHL-FM began to broadcast separate programming playing adult contemporary music as The Hub, and WRHL-AM went to a news and talk format. In 2006, the SAM music format took over and it remained until late 2012 when WRHL-FM became 102.3 The Coyote, broadcasting Today’s New Hit Country on WRHL-FM.
So today, October 5th, 2013, we celebrate 40 years of WRHL-FM being on the air broadcasting to thousands everyday in north central Illinois. And, we now reach hundreds of people every day in this country and around the world who listen on the internet and mobile devices at 1023thecoyote.com. We are very thankful to our advertisers who make it all possible, and to the listeners who support us as well. We plan on being around for many years to come with our dedicated staff, great clients and loyal listeners.
