City officials in Rochelle continue to move forward in the extension of the runway and work on the taxiway at the Municipal Airport.
The plans are to extend the runway at Koritz field to 5,000 feet. The project is expected to cost 1.2 million dollars. The city's share will be just under $107,000.
Airport Manager Mark Delhotal said that he hopes construction can begin later this year on the runway extensions project. The taxiway work will be done in 2014.
The council also approved the engineering costs for the future layout plans at the airport which will not exceed $54,000.
The city also plan to put "no parking" signs on both sides of Caron Court, north of Steward Road, to the
cul-de-sac. Gredco Director Jason Anderson said that semi-trucks have parked on the road for several months when they arrive in the city.
Construction is expected soon for the new facility at Nippon Sharyo and trucks will be using this road.
