Hillcrest board meeting

Village officials in Hillcrest last night in a 4-1 vote established a telecommunications tax ordinance.

There was apparently a section in the village's code book for this tax, but the information was missing. Hillcrest will use the maximum at 6 percent involving the tax.

Trustee Randy Salsbury voted against the proposal last night.

The Animal control ordinance has been re-written in a more comprehensive format. Taken out of the ordinance was a hearing dealing with vicious dogs. The village will follow state guidelines in the ordinance.

Motor fuel tax money will be used for the portion of Hillcrest's costs on Hemstock Road. The figure will be just under $16,900. Flagg Township will also pay for work on the road as the project is expected to begin this spring.

The village is also looking at purchasing a salt container in the future which would be located behind the village hall building.

The board met in executive session to talk about possible litigation involving Regional Ready Mix. The board had received information that the company was looking at a new location in the future. They are still doing business in Hillcrest.

No action was taken by village officials last night.
