Former Oregon city official pleads guilty to theft

A former Oregon city official plead guilty this week in Ogle County court to the misdemeanor charge of theft.

48-year old James Tegtmeyer now lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was arrested back in December of 2011 when money was taken from the ATM machine at the Shell gas station in Oregon.

Tegtmeyer serviced ATM machines in the area. $380 was stolen from the machine at the gas station.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for March 8th in Oregon.

Tegtmeyer was on the Oregon City Council from 2003 to 2007. He also ran for mayor twice in 2007 and 2011. He was not elected by the voters to that city position.
