3 candidates for the Ashton Village board in the upcoming April 9th election have been disqualified because they failed to turn in required paperwork.
The electoral board in Lee County ruled that the candidates will not have their name on the April ballot because they did not submit proof that they turned in statements of economic interest.
Don Ross had filed a petition to run for board president which he held at 1 time. Filing petitions for trustee were Richard Russell and Andrew Kida.
The electoral board met last Friday after receiving information about the problem from current Ashton Village Board President John Martinez.
With the ruling, Martinez has no opponent for the April election and 4 candidates are now on the ballot for the 3 open seats on the board.
Ross along with Russell and Kida can run as write-in candidates this spring.
