Hillcrest Board Meeting

Village officials in Hillcrest continue to move forward involving a sanitary sewer project for a portion of the community.

An income survey was done recently in the 300 and 400 blocks of Scott Avenue, the 200 and 300 blocks of Jeffery Avenue, and on Hillcrest Avenue in the 300 and 400 blocks. The village needed information to apply for a $400,000 federal grant for the sanitary sewer project.

Results from about 100 homes showed that 69 percent were below the median income level said village President Kim Whalen.

The deadline to apply for the grant money is February.

Village officials also signed the paper work needed for the Rochelle sewer agreement documents.

The board approved a change in the ordinance dealing with water being shutoff at a home. A resident will now have 60 days instead of 30 days to pay their water bill. A notice will be sent to the homeowner after the 60 day period. They need to contact the village within a 10 day period to established a payment plan.

The fiscal year 2013 tax levy ordinance for Hillcrest was also approved last night
