Opening statements are scheduled today in the murder trial in Whiteside County for 33-year old Nicholas Sheley of Sterling.
The jury was selected for the trial last week which includes 8 men and 4 women. The alternates chosen were 2 men and a woman.
Sheley is accused to killing 93-year old Russell Reed of Sterling during a week-long murder spree in the summer of 2008.
He's has already be convicted in the death of a Galesburg man.
Sheley has also been charged with 6 other killings which occurred in Rock Falls and Southern Illinois in the summer of 2008. .
