ROCHELLE - At the monthly Veterans Assistance Commission of Ogle County meeting last Wednesday night at the Rochelle VFW Post 3878, it was announced that 27 veterans were provided transportation in March, with 80 transported so far in 2024. The VAC can provide rides to and from a medical facility for those who have no other means of getting there. Transportation arrangements must be made in advance and approved.
Superintendent Luz Marie Gilkey also announced that for March nearly $8,000 of new benefits were awarded so far to Ogle County Veterans, and that number is expected to grow as paperwork gets completed.
