A Rockford man escaped serious injuries yesterday morning after the car he was driving struck a utility pole in Rochelle.
The accident took place a short time after 5 on South Main Street at Avenue "C".
Police say that a car driven by 24-year oild Miguel Sanchez of Rockford was traveling southbound on Main Street when he fell asleep behind the wheel.
The vehicle left the roadway and struck the Frontier utility pole. The car then overturned and rolled back onto its wheels.
Sanchez refused medical treatment at the scene. He was ticketed for failure to yield for conditions.
