Students from Rochelle and Byron High Schools participated this past weekend at the State Speech Tournament in Peoria.
The event was held at the Civic Center.
RTHS qualified Senior Lexy LeMar in Informative Speaking and Junior Nephy Valle in Special Occasion Speaking.
Junior Kathleen Rock of Byron High School took part in Original Oratory.
None of the students placed in the top 6 in each category.
Downers Grove South High School won the team title with 34 points. It was their 17th state title.
Second place went to Wheaton Warrenville South High School as they totaled 32 points.
