Warrant arrest issued for a Rockford man in CherryVale Mall shooting

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Rockford man following a 2nd shooting that took place at the CherryVale Mall in the past 11 days.

Police are looking for 22-year old Donald Ashford. The warrant is for aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Police also believe that Ashford may have fired his gun on the driver of another car in Rockford during his escaped this past weekend. That incident involved a hit and run between 2 cars.

Reports indicate that a man in a wheel chair was shot twice as he tried to get into his car Saturday afternoon. The injuries were not life threatening.

The shooting took place on the north side of the mall near the J.C. Penney entrance.

The first shooting at the CherryVale Mall occurred on September 30th involving 2 groups. No injuries were reported. Police have made no arrests from the shooting.
