In a 4-1 vote this week, city officials in Oregon approved the new union contract for the police department. Voting against the agreement was Councilman Jim Barnes.
Details of the contract will not be released until the union ratifies the deal. There are 7 police officers in the union. This would be their first contract with the city of Oregon.
The council approved the purchase of just under 3 acres of land on South 2nd Street for future growth. The price tag for the property was $129,900.
The city also purchased a Bobcat excavator for the water and sanitary sewer department at a cost of just under $69,000.
