School officials in Oregon approved their new fiscal year budget this week as the district is looking at a deficit of over $900,000.
Superintendent Tom Mahoney said that despite cutting expenditures by around a half million dollars, the deficit continues to rise in the district.
Revenue is also down by around $400,000. Mahoney said that the EAV for the district is less this year than the number in 2007.
The board did approve a cooperative agreement with the Winnebago School District for a boys and girls bowling teams.
School officials also talked about a girls soccer program in the future during the Spring. No final decision was made.
At the present time, Oregon does have a boys soccer program that plays in the fall. A few girls have played on the team in the past few years.
