Huntley announces her retirement as Ogle County Clerk and Recorder

Ogle County will have a new clerk and recorder next year.

Becky Huntley has announced her retirement following 18 years in the position. She plans to leave office as clerk and recorder on March 18th of 2016.

Huntley has been an Ogle County official for the past 29 years. She was a county board member for 5 years and also worked 6 years as a victims witness advocate with the State's Attorney's office.

Huntley said she has been thinking about her retirement over the last couple of months. She was re-elected by voters to the 4-year position in November of 2014.

Huntley said that the Ogle County board is expected to appoint an interim clerk and recorder on March 16th of next year, the day after the primary election.

That person would hold that position until the General Election in November. The winner would be sworn in on December 1st.

Huntley said that she has many memories during the past 29 years with the county. She has no plans right now on what she will do in the future other than help her husband in their farming business.

Ogle County residents can pick up petitions for the March primary election at the clerk's office at any time. They can not circulate the petitions for signatures until September 1st.

The filing period is between November 23rd and 30th.
