Felony charges have been filed against a DeKalb man following a 2-vehicle alcohol related head-on collision Tuesday night on Route 38, just east of Nelson Road.
Reports indicate that 39-year old Corey Akers was passing a semi-tractor trailer truck on Route 38 when his car collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 18-year old Kyle Donohoe of DeKalb.
Akers then fled the scene on foot following the accident. He was apprehended a short time later by DeKalb County Sheriff's Police.
Donohoe and a passenger in his car were treated for injuries at Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
Akers, who suffered minor injuries from the crash, has now been charged with 3 counts of aggravated DUI, leaving the scene of a accident involving an injury, and failure to report an accident. He was also charged with aggravated driving on a revoked license.
Bond was set at $250,000.
Akers turned himself in to police last night on the warrant and remains in jail today in Sycamore. He will appear before a judge later today.
