No ambulance service in Oregon

Residents in the city of Oregon are without ambulance service today.

Due to financial reasons, a privately owned Oregon Ambulance Service closed on Tuesday.

Oregon has around 37 hundred residents. It does not have an ambulance service funded by taxes through their fire department.

Oregon Fire Chief Don Heller said in a published report that he has contacted area departments for their assistance in ambulance calls. This includes Mt. Morris and Byron.

Residents in Oregon are being asked to call ambulance businesses for non-emergency cases. The 911 emergency calls are being handled by Ogle County Sheriff's Police who contact an area ambulance provider for the present time.

The response time will increase due to no ambulance service in Oregon. The coverage area is around 120 square miles which includes Oregon, Chana along with unincorporated communities of Daysville and Paynes Point.
