The 8th Annual Christmas Tree Festival in Rochelle comes to an end this evening at 6:30 for area residents.
All proceeds this year will benefit the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry. The organization provides food for needy families and individuals in the Rochelle area.
The festival will feature Table Top Christmas Trees, Gift Baskets, along with Holiday Wreaths and Centerpieces. All of the items are at City Hall.
The silent auction ends this evening at 6:30.
The 2013 Old Fashioned Christmas Walk will also take place tonight along with Saturday and Sunday in the downtown area.
The annual Lighted Parade begins at 5:30 and will travel through the downtown area. It will come to an end at City Hall where Santa Claus will light the community tree. The Middle School Chorus will also sing carols.
The annual Gratitude Award will also be given to a deserving member of the community.
Other activities in the downtown area includes:
**Bed Races down Lincoln Highway at 5:15pm
**The Rochelle Fire Department will sell pork chop sandwiches and the Masonic Temple
will have chili and soup dinners.
**The Hub City Senior Center will have their cream chicken and biscuits dinner from
4:30 until 7:30 this evening.
**The Flagg Township Library will host an open house
**Horse and carriage rides through the downtown area. You can pick-up the rides at the RMU
Custormer Service building.
**The VFW will have breakfast with Santa on Sunday morning from 8 until 11
