Chicago Baseball

Danny Salazar struck out nine over three-and-two-thirds shutout innings as the Indians beat the White Sox 3-1 at U.S. Cellular Field. He allowed four hits and two walks before being removed on a pitch-count. Drew Stubbs, Ryan Raburn and Michael Brantley all drove in runs for Cleveland, which has won the first two games of the four-game series. Bryan Shaw pitched two innings of one-hit relief for the win and Chris Perez nailed down his 24th save. Hector Santiago took the loss for Chicago. Paul Konerko singled in the lone run for the White Sox in the fifth. Alexei Ramirez had three hits in defeat.

Game #3 of the series is this evening with the Pre-Game Show at 5:35 on Newstalk 1060

Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run homer in the seventh to lift the Cubs to a 5-4 win over the Pirates at PNC Park.  Brian Bogusevic went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer as Chicago stopped a two-game skid.  Carlos Villanueva notched the win in relief while Kevin Gregg recorded his 32nd save.  Pedro Alvarez hit an inside-the-park homer while Russell Martin and Garrett Jones followed him with solo shots of their own in the fourth.  Jason Grilli took the loss after blowing the lead for Pittsburgh, which saw a four-game winning streak end.  The Bucs still trail the Cardinals by one game in the NL Central race.
