The Chicago Blackhawks are rewarding general manager Scotty Bowman with a two-year contract extension. His current deal was set to expire after the 2015-16 season, but he will now be in the fold through 2017-18. Bowman is entering his 13th season with the Blackhawks and has been the architect of two Stanley Cup championship teams since taking over as the club's ninth GM in July 2009.
The Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks open training camp today in South Bend on the campus of Notre Dame. Practices will be held there through Sunday before the team returns to United Center for Monday's Training Camp Festival. The sold out festival will include a team scrimmage at 7:00.
