Welington Castillo doubled in the lone run for the Cubs, who are 3-and-4 since the break. Carlos Villanueva allowed three runs in five frames as he fell to 2-and-7 with the loss.
The Cubs will be in San Francisco tonightAlfonso Soriano was a late scratch from the Cubs lineup last night among rumors that he will be traded to the New York Yankees. ESPN reports the deal is near completion and manager Dale Sveum even referred to such talks as "99-percent done." The Cubs are expected to get little salary relief in the deal as well as a lower-tier pitching prospect. The 37-year-old Soriano broke in with the Yanks and played for them from 1999 through 2003.
