Alfonso Soriano accounted for all of the Cubs offense with a pair of two-run homers in Chicago's 4-1 win over the Pirates at Wrigley Field. Soriano connected for each long ball in the fourth and fifth innings. Edwin Jackson improved to 5-and-10 allowing one-run across five-and-two-thirds innings. The Cubs are 37-and-48. Pedro Alvarez smacked his 22nd homer in the loss. Andrew McCutchen and Starling Marte each had two hits for Pittsburgh, which is 53-and-33. Charlie Morton dropped to 1-and-2.
