Aaron Hicks homered twice and Justin Morneau knocked in four runs as the Twins crushed the White Sox, 10-3, in the opener of a three-game series at Target Field. Trevor Plouffe drove in a pair of runs for the Twins, who have won five of their last seven. Pedro Hernandez gave up three runs in five-and-a-third innings as he improved to 2-and-0. Alex Rios plated two runs and Alejandro had three hits and scored twice for the White Sox, who have lost three-of-four. Hector Santiago struck out six in five-and-two-thirds frames, but allowed six runs, three earned, on eight hits as he fell to 1-and-2.

Alfonso Soriano hit a two-run homer as the Cubs cruised past the Rockies, 9-1. David DeJesus, Nate Schierholtz and Welington Castillo were all 2-for-4 with two RBI for Chicago. Starlin Castro also had two hits and a pair of RBI for the Cubs, who have won three straight. Travis Wood tossed seven innings of two-hit ball to improve to 4-and-2. Josh Rutledge's solo homer in the ninth gave Colorado its lone run. Juan Nicasio allowed five runs over six innings to fall to 3-and-1. The Rox have lost five out of their last six games.
