Both the White Sox and Cubs lose last night

Mike Trout connected on a RBI single and J.B. Shuck scored on a passed ball in the seventh inning to push the Angels to a 7-5 road win over the White Sox. Los Angeles moved to 13-and-22 with its second straight victory. Brendan Harris was 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI, while reliever Michael Kohn picked up his first win. Ernesto Frieri nailed down his sixth save, striking out three in the ninth. Alejandro De Aza connected for his seventh homer on the season. Dylan Axelrod took the loss, allowing six runs and seven hits in six innings. The White Sox are 14--and-19.

Game #2 of the series is tonight with the Pre-Game Show at 5:35 on Newstalk 1060.

Ian Desmond went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored as the Nationals took care of the Cubs, 7-3.  Desmond finished a triple shy of the cycle, connected on his fifth homer in the process.  Ross Detwiler gave up two runs over six-and-two-thirds innings to move to 2-and-3.  Danny Espinosa and Kurt Suzuki each drove in a pair for Washington, which has won five straight.  Starlin Castro had a pair of doubles and an RBI for Chicago while Anthony Rizzo delivered two hits and drove in one as well.  Jeff Samardzija gave up seven runs, five earned, over five frames to take the loss and fall to 1-and-5.  The Cubs have lost two in-a-row and six of their last eight.
