Jake Peavy quieted the Mets' bats in allowing one run on three hits over six-and-two-thirds innings, picking up his fourth win of the season in the White Sox 6-3 victory over New York. Alejandro De Aza and Alex Rios each had three hits and scored five of Chicago's runs. Each had a solo homer in the win. Lucas Duda hit his seventh home run of the season for the Mets. Mike Baxter and Ruben Tejada had two hits each in a losing cause. Jeremy Hefner took the loss and fell to 0-and-4. The teams split the two-game interleague series.
White Sox have the day off today. They play at home Friday against the L.A. Angels.
Jon Jay singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning as the Cardinals rallied to beat the Cubs 5-4 at Wrigley Field. Carlos Beltran went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles, including the game-tying hit in the seventh, as St. Louis overcame a 4-2 deficit. Seth Maness picked up the win in relief and Edward Mujica [[ moo-HEE-kuh ]] notched his ninth save. The Cardinals have won seven of their last eight games. Michael Bowden took the loss for Chicago. Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-4 and Nate Schierholtz had a two-run double for the Cubs. Chicago had won its previous two games.
