White Sox and Cubs lose 4th in a row

Asdrubal Cabrera singled in the tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the eighth inning and Cleveland hung on for a 3-2 win over the White Sox. Justin Masterson allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five in seven innings to earn the win and improve to 4-and-1 this season. Lonnie Chisenhall had two hits and Chris Perez pitched the ninth inning for his third save for Cleveland, which has won three in-a-row. Conor Gillaspie hit his first home run of the season for Chicago. Dylan Axelrod allowed a run on three hits in six innings for the Pale Hose, but reliever Matt Thornton couldn't hold the lead. The Sox have lost four straight.

Game #2 of the series is tonight with the Pre-Game Show at 6:35 on Newstalk 1060.

The Reds scored three times in the bottom of the 13th to earn a 5-4 victory over the Cubs.  Cesar Izturis singled in Jay Bruce for the game-winning run.  Bruce had previously doubled in a pair to tie the game after Luis Valbuena's two-run homer for the Cubs in the top half of the 13th.  Bruce also hit a solo homer for Cincinnati, which has won three straight and seven out of eight.  Alfredo Simon picked up the win in relief to move to 2-and-1.  David DeJsus hit a solo shot for Chicago while Starlin Castro also drove in a run in the defeat.  Michael Bowden took the loss in relief as the Cubbies lost their fourth in-a-row.
