Asdrubal Cabrera singled in the tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the eighth inning and Cleveland hung on for a 3-2 win over the White Sox. Justin Masterson allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five in seven innings to earn the win and improve to 4-and-1 this season. Lonnie Chisenhall had two hits and Chris Perez pitched the ninth inning for his third save for Cleveland, which has won three in-a-row. Conor Gillaspie hit his first home run of the season for Chicago. Dylan Axelrod allowed a run on three hits in six innings for the Pale Hose, but reliever Matt Thornton couldn't hold the lead. The Sox have lost four straight.

The Reds scored three times in the bottom of the 13th to earn a 5-4 victory over the Cubs. Cesar Izturis singled in Jay Bruce for the game-winning run. Bruce had previously doubled in a pair to tie the game after Luis Valbuena's two-run homer for the Cubs in the top half of the 13th. Bruce also hit a solo homer for Cincinnati, which has won three straight and seven out of eight. Alfredo Simon picked up the win in relief to move to 2-and-1. David DeJsus hit a solo shot for Chicago while Starlin Castro also drove in a run in the defeat. Michael Bowden took the loss in relief as the Cubbies lost their fourth in-a-row.
