Martin Maldonado's three-run double highlighted a four-run first inning as the Brewers cruised past the Cubs 7-4 at Wrigley Field. Ryan Braun went 3-for-4 with an RBI in his return to the lineup for Milwaukee, which snapped a five-game skid to improve to 2-and-5. Braun missed the previous three games with neck spasms. Marco Estrada struck out six over seven innings of two-run ball for the win. After Brandon Kintzler gave up a pair of runs in the ninth, Jim Henderson came in and closed it out for his first save. Welington Castillo hit a two-run homer and Nate Schierholtz and Luis Valbuena singled in runs in the ninth for the Northsiders, who have lost four in-a-row. Edwin Jackson dropped to 0-and-2 with the loss.
After an off-day on Monday, the White Sox open a three-game Interleague series tonight against the Nationals in Washington, D.C. Jake Peavy seeks his second win of the season for while Gio Gonzalez looks to do the same for the Nats. Peavy allowed two runs, but just one earned, in six innings of a 5-2 win over KC last Wednesday.
