White Sox manager Robin Ventura has been named a finalist for AL Manger of the Year. Ventura guided the Southsiders to an 85-and-77 record in his first season at the helm. Oakland's Bob Melvin and Baltimore's Buck Showalter are the other finalists.
Longtime White Sox coach Juan Nieves is joining the Red Sox. Boston named Nieves its pitching coach yesterday. Nieves has spent the last 14 years with the Southsiders, including the last five seasons as bullpen coach. Chicago's bullpen ERA of 3.88 during Nieves' tenure ranked fifth in baseball.
