Chris Seddon was credited with his first win. Orlando Hudson smacked an RBI single for the White Sox, who were eliminated from playoff contention on Monday. Matt Thornton was charged with the loss.
Jason Castro clubbed a solo home run to back six scoreless innings from Bud Norris as the Astros shutout the Cubs, 3-0. It marked the first meeting between 100-loss teams since 1962. Norris fanned four and allowed just four hits and two walks to improve to 7-and-13 on the season. Wilton Lopez closed it out to nail down his 10th save for Houston, which has won three games in-a-row. Chris Volstad gave up two runs, one earned, during seven frames of duty to suffer the loss for Chicago. Starlin Castro went 2-for-4 while playing in his franchise-record 161st game of the season at shortstop. The Northsiders have dropped 13 of their last 15 games and picked up their 100th loss of the season on Monday.
