Training camp begins this week for the NIU Huskies as they prepare for their season opener on Saturday, September 1st at Soldier Field in Chicago against Iowa.
NIU is coming off a season where they were (11-3) overall and MAC Champions. They also won the GoDaddy.com Bowl. It was the 4th straight season that NIU had qualified in a post season bowl game.
The Huskies expect to have another successful season as they return 8 starters on defense and 4 on offense from the bowl game. NIU begins the season with the longest winning streak in the Nation involving the Football Bowl Subdivision at 9 games.
The schedule for this week has the players reporting to Dekalb today. The 1st practise at Huskie Stadium is Monday.
