Chicago White Sox pitcher John Danks confirmed on Tuesday that he will require season-ending shoulder surgery. Danks has been out since late May, troubled by soreness in the sub scapular area of his left shoulder. His last foray on the mound came last Friday, when he threw 30 pitches in Texas, followed by playing catch before Monday's series opener with the Twins. The procedure will take place next Monday, according to the ChiSox Twitter page. The 27-year-old went 3-and-4 with a 5.70 earned run average over nine starts before the setback.
