In a sad note in sports today, Stillman Valley Defensive coordinator in football, Joe Blume, passed away this on Saturday while vacationing in Wisconsin. The 73-year old Blume died in his sleep.
Blume has been defensive coordinator for the Cardinals since 1998 which includes 4 State Championships. Joe was also the Head Coach at Stillman Valley High School in 1996 and 1997.
Prior to Stillman Valley, Blume was Head Coach in Football at Rockford Jefferson High School.
Blume, who grew up in Kirkland, had a record of (116-74) at Rockford Jeferson. 8 of his teams made the playoffs. His record at Stillman Valley was (15-7) with 1 playoff team.
