Chicago Baseball

Joey Wendle homered and Matt Duffy drove in two as the Rays edged the White Sox 5-4 at Guaranteed Rate Field.  Mallex Smith went 4-for-4 with an RBI for Tampa, which snapped an eight-game skid and improved to 2-and-8 overall.  Chris Archer struck out eight over five-and-two-thirds innings of three-run ball to earn his first win.  Alex Colome closed it out for his second save.

Nicky Delmonico drilled a two-run homer for the White Sox, who fell to 3-and-6 with their fourth-straight loss.  Miguel Gonzalez gave up four runs in four-and-a-third frames as he fell to 0-and-2.

Game 2 of the series is this afternoon. Pre-Game Show is at 12:35 on Good Times Oldies 1060.

The Cubs' home opener against the Pirates at Wrigley Field was postponed due to snow yesterday.  The teams will now open the three-game series today, which was a scheduled off-day.  Tyler Chatwood will start on the mound for Chicago.  The Pirates will counter with right-hander Ivan Nova.  The Bucs lead the NL Central at 7-and-2.  The Cubs are 5-and-4.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is heading to the disabled list.  Rizzo was placed on the 10-day DL due to a back injury retroactive to last Friday.  He missed three games of the Brewers' series.
