The Rochelle Township High School wrestling program finished in 4th place this evening in their first appearance at the Class 2A Dual Team State Tournament in Bloomington.
The Hubs lost to Chicago St. Rita 40-25 in the third place match. Rochelle finished with a dual record of (19-14).
Earlier in the day, RTHS defeated Oak Forest 37-34 in the quarterfinals. They then lost to Cahokia 60-22 in the semi-final match.
Picking up 3 wins today for Rochelle were Alex Harvey, Ehren Metzger. and Justin Hernandez.
Eddie Villalobos and Andy Silva won 2 of their 3 matches.
For Rochelle, this is their first state trophy as a team in their sports program with the 4th place finish.
For the third year in a row, Washington won the Class 2A Dual Team State Wrestling Tournament with a 59-12 win over Cahokia in the championship match.
Aurora Christian won their first Class 1A title while Montini are champions in Class 3A. It was their 14th state championship in wrestling.
