The Bulls and Pelicans have finally agreed to a trade that will
send disgruntled forward Nikola Mirotic to New Orleans. In return,
Chicago will receive center Omir Asik - who played his first two
seasons with the Bulls - and guards Tony Allen and Jameer Nelson
and a protected first-round pick in 2018. Both Allen and Nelson
could be waived by Chicago. The Pelicans, who also receive a
second-round pick from the Bulls, agreed to pick up the $12.5
million option on Mirotic for the 2018-19 season. Despite signing a
two-year deal with Chicago over the summer, Mirotic has wanted out
after missing the first 23 games following a fight with teammate
Bobby Portis in which he suffered facial fractures and a concussion.
