White Sox get only 1 hit in Detroit

Matthew Boyd fell one out short of a no-hitter in the Detroit Tigers' 12-0 rout of the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park.  Tim Anderson broke up the bid with a two-out double in the top of the ninth inning.  The Tigers won the game, 12-0.  Boyd struck out five and walked one as he improved to 6-and-10 with the complete-game shutout.  Miami's Edinson Volquez remains the only pitcher in the majors to throw a no-hitter this season.  Jeimer Candelario hit a three-run homer, while Mikie Mahtook and Nick Castellanos added two-run blasts for the Tigers, who earned a split of the four-game series.

Dylan Covey fell to 0-and-6 for Chicago.

The White Sox begin a 3-game series in Houston on Tuesday night. Pre-Game Show begins at 6:35 on Good Time Oldies 1060.
