Former NHL forward and current Chicago Blackhawks broadcaster Eddie Olczyk is getting treatment for colon cancer. He released a statement through the team on Tuesday.
Olczyk, who turns 51 next week, played five of his 16 NHL seasons with Chicago. He had surgery last week to remove a tumor and says he plans to return to the booth following completion of his treatment.
Olczyk also played for Toronto, Winnipeg, the New York Rangers, Los Angeles and Pittsburgh. He served as head coach of the Penguins in the mid-2000's.
