Javier Baez hit a two-run, inside-the-park homer to help the Cubs beat the Giants 5-3 in the opener of a three-game set in San Francisco. Anthony Rizzo had three hits and an RBI for Chicago, which led 5-0 in the fifth. Jake Arrieta got the win and Wade Davis his 24th save. The Cubs now lead the Brewers by a game-and-a-half for first place in the NL Central.
Matt Moore gave up all five runs in six frames to fall to 3-and-12. Ryder Jones hit a two-run homer for San Francisco, which had won its previous two.
