Matt Wieters drilled a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning as the Nationals surged past the Cubs, 9-4, at Wrigley Field. The Nats scored eight unanswered runs starting in the seventh inning to complete the rally. Wieters plated five and Brian Goodwin also homered for Washington. Reliever Brandon Kintzler picked up his first win in a Nats jersey as they took the rubber match on the road.
Reliever Carl Edwards Junior blew the save and took the loss for the Cubs. Willson Contreras had two solo homers and Kyle Schwarber also went deep. The North Siders have lost four of their past five games.
