The Marlins scored three in the first inning and held on to top the Cubs 4-2 in Miami. Marcell Ozuna led the scoring off with an RBI single before Martin Prado scored two with a double. Giancarlo Stanton added a solo home run in the seventh for some insurance. Edinson Volquez tossed five frames of two-run ball in the win with AJ Ramos notching the save.
Chicago starter Mike Montgomery surrendered three unearned runs over six innings to take the tough-luck loss. The Cubs have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. They left 11 runners on base yesterday.
The Cubs continue their road trip tonight in Washington.
