Carlos Martinez tossed a complete game shutout as the Cardinals blanked the Phillies, 7-0, in St. Louis. Marinez allowed just four hits and struck out 11 batters to get the win. Jedd Gyorko and Matt Carpenter each slammed two-run doubles in the win. The Cards have won two straight games since ending a seven-game slide.
Nick Pivetta tossed five frames of four-run ball to take the loss for Philadelphia. Tommy Joseph had two of their four hits in defeat.
Zack Godley yielded two runs and two hits over six-and-two-third innings as the Diamondbacks nipped the Brewers 3-2 in Phoenix. Brandon Drury hit a two-run homer with two-out in the sixth to put Arizona ahead for good. Reymond Fuentes tripled and scored on a ground out for the first D'Backs run. Arizona is 25-and-9 at home.
Hernan Perez hit a two-run homer in the fourth for the Milwaukee runs. Junior Guerra yielded three runs on five hits to take the loss.
