CHICAGO – The University of Chicago Women's Athletic Association (WAA) distributed awards at the celebratory annual banquet on May 9.
WAA was originally founded in 1904 and evolved from an organization that promoted intramural opportunities to the letterwinner's organization for varsity women. The purpose of the WAA is to "encourage close relationships between the women athletes of the University of Chicago in order that they may work together as a body to promote women's athletics."
Gertrude Dudley Medal – Michelle Dobbs of Rochelle (Track & Field / Cross Country / Basketball, Sr.)
- Presented to the outstanding senior athlete for leadership and skill in women's athletics. This award is named for Gertrude Dudley, the first Chairman of the Department of Physical Education – Women's Division. Miss Dudley served the University from 1898-1935.
