Cubs split in Colorado

Ryan Hanigan's three-run single capped a six-run third inning as the Rockies clobbered the Cubs 10-4 in the opener of a split doubleheader at Coors Field. Mark Reynolds homered for the fourth straight game, drove in three and scored three runs for Colorado. Rookie Antonio Senzatela tossed six innings of two-run ball to improve to 5-and-1.

Jake Arrieta was rocked for nine runs, including five earned, in less than four frames to fall to 4-and-2.

John Lackey struck out 10 over seven shutout innings as the Cubs beat the Rockies 8-1 to earn a split of their day-night doubleheader at Coors Field.  Lackey also singled in a run to ignite a five-run second inning for Chicago.  Javier Baez and Kris Bryant both homered in the win.

Kyle Freeland gave up five runs in six frames to take the loss.  Ian Desmond singled in Colorado's lone run in the eighth.

Rubber game of the series will be played this afternoon in Colorado.
