The Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the Cubs with a 5-4 win in 18 innings at Wrigley Field. Aaron Hicks scored on a fielder's choice in the top of the 18th to give New York the lead. Chicago sent the game to extras scoring three runs off Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman in the bottom of the ninth. Reliever Chasen Shreve came away with the victory.
The two teams combined to set the record for total strikeouts in a game with 48. It was the longest game of the season to this point.
The Cubs open up a road trip tonight in Colorado.
