The Reds avoided a three-game sweep with a 7-5 win over the Cubs in Cincinnati. Bronson Arroyo struck out seven over six innings of two-run ball to improve to 2-and-2. Scott Schebler homered and Patrick Kivlehan smacked a three-run double in the victory.
Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run homer for Chicago, which dropped to 10-and-8. John Lackey allowed all seven runs, five of which were earned, in six innings to fall to 1-and-3.
The Cubs will be in Pittsbrugh tonight to begin a 3-game series.
