Chicago moved seven points ahead of Minnesota for the top spot in the West with its fifth straight win.
Mikhail Grigorenko had two goals for Colorado. Jeremy Smith stopped 28 shots in defeat.
The Blackhawks are home Wednesday against Vancouver.
