The Cubs took the rubber match of their three-game series with the Cardinals, 3-1, at Wrigley Field. Jon Lester improved to 19-and-4, blanking St. Louis for six-and-two-third innings. Lester allowed three hits, one walk and struck out seven. Aroldis Chapman picked up his 16th save. David Ross hit a solo shot for Chicago, which is 99-and-56.
Carlos Martinez was tagged with the loss and Jhonny Peralta had the only RBI. The Cards are a half-game back of the Giants for the second wild card spot in the NL.

Carlos Rodon struck out 11 over eight innings of two-hit ball to pace the White Sox past the Indians, 3-0, at Progressive Field. David Robertson struck out the side in the ninth inning for his 36th save of the season. Carlos Sanchez drove in two the Chicago's three runs on the day.
Cleveland's Josh Tomlin took the loss, allowing two runs over six-and-two-thirds innings. The Indians missed out on a chance to clinch the AL Central at home. Their final seven games of the season are on the road.
The White Sox are at Home tonight against Tampa Bay.
